Mark Forester buried himself in the back country of Colorado to be away from people and their issues that kept flooding him with unwelcome intrusion into his life, often paralyzing him. He fought to keep his sanity in this onslaught. Yet when the pain of a girl in Connecticut burst on him, he had to do something to help. In the dead of night, using his neighbor's phone, he called the girl's parents to warn them of her peril. That started a desperate race to avert disaster, and disbelief, was only one of the things he had to fight. Yet in the process of helping, he found new friends and a fresh sense of self.
